Description from the seller
In a print run of 2,200, a sold-out photo book by the great Anton Corbijn. Household photographer to major bands such as U2 and Depeche Mode, but also to Herman Brood. This book has been sold out for years everywhere and is a true collectors’ item.
The renowned (pop) photographer Anton Corbijn met Herman Brood in early 1974 in the province of Groningen and became Herman’s personal photographer. They formed a close bond; even after Corbijn moved to London in 1979, there remained a photographic and personal relationship. This edition, issued to accompany the exhibition at the Cobra Museum (July 5–September 15, 2002), contains mainly many photos from the years 1974–1979, which is why, for example, there are no photos of Herman’s wife Xandra. The atmospheric black-and-white images are accompanied by handwritten English captions by Corbijn. With a bilingual foreword by Martin Bril and an introduction by the photographer. Brood always proudly said that he himself was the blueprint for the kind of relationship that Corbijn now has with, for example, U2, REM and Depeche Mode.
