Description from the seller
Splendid decorative sculpture / trinket box in the shape of a Swan - Italy, 1970s. Up for auction is a fascinating piece of art and vintage home decor dating from the 1970s, which perfectly embodies the eclectic and sophisticated elegance of Hollywood Regency style with Italian Mid-Century Modern influences. The piece is crafted according to the celebrated Tuscan artisanal tradition of the era, strongly inspired by the iconic creations of Florentine designer Gabriella Binazzi. The peculiarity and value of this piece lie in the harmonious juxtaposition between natural elements and metal: the body of the swan is formed by a magnificent authentic natural seashell (species Cassis), characterized by warm peachy-pink internal hues. The head, the long graceful neck, and the distinctive webbed feet at the base are made in metal casting (brass/patinated bronze), with superb detailing and small dark inlays around the eyes. A piece of great stage presence and timeless charm, ideal both as a sculpture for a collection and as a refined trinket box or centerpiece for chic, design-forward interiors.
