Porsche Boxster S 3.2, 2003.
Description from the seller
Porsche Boxster S 986.2 3.2 – 2003 – Manual
The Porsche Boxster was introduced in the mid-1990s as a completely new compact roadster and grew into one of the core models in Porsche’s modern history. The name Boxster combines the words “Boxer,” referring to the centrally located flat-six engine, and “Roadster.” The first generation, internally designated 986, appeared in 1996 and brought back the classic Porsche roadster formula: two seats, light weight, rear-wheel drive, and a boxer engine right behind the occupants.
This facelift specimen was first delivered on March 20, 2003 and concerns an original Boxster S produced for the German market. The car features the sought-after six-speed manual gearbox and the 3,179 cc six-cylinder boxer engine. It is a matching-numbers example.
A particularly attractive aspect is the extensive documentation. The original stamped Porsche service book is present, as well as the manuals and additional Porsche documentation. The car now has a Dutch license plate and valid technical inspection.
BODYWORK/PAINT:
The bodywork of this Porsche Boxster S presents as well-kept and has the characteristic compact and balanced proportions of the 986 generation.
The body panels align neatly, and the paintwork presents as very well kept. The 986.2 is recognizable by the changes Porsche implemented during the facelift, giving this later Boxster a more modern appearance than the early versions.
The electrically operated fabric convertible top also presents very well and closes neatly against the body. The rubber seals around the top, doors, and windows are present and convey a fresh impression.
The car sits on the light alloy Porsche wheels that come with the Boxster S. The sporty character is further emphasized by the dual stainless steel exhausts.
TECHNICAL:
This Boxster S is powered by the M96.24 3.2-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine. The engine displacement is 3,179 cc and it delivers 258 hp in this configuration. It is a matching-numbers example.
An important plus of this car is the six-speed manual gearbox. This provides the mechanical and direct driving experience for which early water-cooled Porsche sports cars are increasingly valued today.
Thanks to the mid-engine layout, the engine sits directly behind the occupants. This creates a favorable weight distribution and a low center of gravity. Combined with rear-wheel drive and the Porsche sports suspension, this yields the characteristic balance of the Boxster S.
This example is factory-equipped with Porsche Stability Management (PSM), option code 476, providing electronic stability and traction control. The car has ABS and disc brakes all around and independent suspension.
The technical history is extensively documented in the original stamped maintenance book. Regular service intervals, a major service, spark plugs, and brake fluid are among the items recorded.
The most recently documented maintenance was carried out on April 12, 2024 at 111,999 km, including an annual inspection and routine maintenance according to schedule. Brake fluid was replaced. Additionally, a minor service was performed for the May 2026 APK inspection.
The available technical inspection states that the car passed the inspection without issues; emission and brake tests were completed successfully.
INTERIOR:
The Boxster S interior is typical Porsche: orderly, functional, and fully built around the driver.
The sport seats offer a low seating position and, together with the compact steering wheel and six-speed manual gearbox, create a classic sports car environment.
The interior finish is very neat for the age. The seats, door panels, center console, and dashboard make an exceptionally tidy impression. The car features a leather interior and includes power windows and electrically adjustable exterior mirrors.
From the factory the Porsche was equipped with CDR-23 audio, option code 697, in combination with radio preparation and speakers, option code 441. The car also includes a wind deflector, option code 551. This sits between the roll bars and reduces interior turbulence when driving with the top down. Also present are the integrated CD storage, option code 424, and the extra storage behind the seats, option code 584.
A practical advantage of the mid-engine construction is that the Boxster has separate storage spaces both in front and behind, making the two-seater roadster surprisingly usable.
