​Description:
​Refined and elegant antique theatre binoculars in lorgnette style with a folding handle, made in Paris by the renowned Colmont manufactory between the late 19th and early 20th century (the full Belle Époque period).
​Manufacturer: Colmont Paris (brand stampMarked on the upper bar of the frame).
​Materials: Gilded brass frame decorated with gadrooning, the barrels’ bodies and the handle clad in splendid natural iridescent mother-of-pearl (nacre). Central focus ring also carved in mother-of-pearl.
​Features: Model equipped with an extendable side handle designed to support the binoculars with one hand during opera or theatre performances.
​Aesthetic-mechanical condition: In exceptional conservation for its era. The mother-of-pearl is intact, bright, and free of chips or evident cracks. The gilding of the brass preserves its original patina of the period with very slight and normal signs of aging. The focusing mechanism and the handle hinge are perfectly functional.
​Optics: Lenses present and transparent, with clear visibility.
