Description from the seller

Elkington & Co – Victorian condiment service / table salt cellar – silvered metal and cut crystal – England, 19th century

Elegant antique table condiment set by Elkington & Co, Birmingham, a renowned British manufacturer and a pioneer of electroplated silverware in the 19th century.
The set consists of a silvered metal mounting with a central handle hosting three containers: two cylindrical cut glass pots with articulated silvered metal lids, and an open cut-glass container with radiating decoration intended notably for salt or condiments.
A small shell-shaped spoon accompanies the set.
The mounting bears, under its base, the Elkington & Co marks, visible in the photographs. These marks are a particularly interesting element for identifying and dating the piece.
Beautiful British table art object, characteristic of condiment services used during the Victorian era.
Condition: antique condition consistent with age and use. Significant patina, oxidation, small pitting and wear to the silvering visible on the mounting. The glass elements also show the normal traces of an antique object. These signs of time have deliberately been preserved and are shown precisely in the photographs. The articulated lids are present.
The set will be sold in the exact condition presented in the photographs.
Manufacturer: Elkington & Co
Origin: Birmingham, England
Era: 19th century / Victorian period
Materials: silvered metal, cut glass/crystal
Composition: mounting, two covered pots, condiment receptacle and spoon.
