The Minolta Uniomat is a 35mm coupled-rangefinder camera introduced by Chiyoda Kogaku (later Minolta) in 1960. It carries a fixed four-element Rokkor 45mm f/2.8 lens set in a Citizen Optiper Uni leaf shutter, and pairs it with a coupled selenium meter offering an early form of programmed automatic exposure. Its most unusual feature is that the shutter blades double as the aperture, dispensing with a separate diaphragm — an elegant piece of period engineering. A neat, all-mechanical rangefinder from the dawn of automated metering, it appeals to collectors of early Minolta and to film shooters who enjoy the character of a sharp Rokkor lens.

Functional
The shutter, film transport and rangefinder work. The selenium meter responds, but reads about +0.9 EV at EV12 and +2.5 EV at EV15 — see Known Issues. No battery is required.
The light seals have been replaced, and the viewfinder and lens have been cleaned internally.

Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 0.9 OVER / EV15: 2.5 OVER
Some of these deviations exceed what negative film can absorb — please read the Known Issues section and allow for them when shooting.

Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Light seals (foam) replaced
- Viewfinder cleaned internally
- Lens cleaned internally

Known Issues
1. The selenium meter reads about 2.5 stops bright in strong light (EV15), so automatic exposure will overexpose in bright conditions unless you compensate with the film-speed setting.
2. Residual haze in the lens — expect some softness or loss of contrast, especially against the light.

We ship via either FedEx or Japan Post (ePacket), whichever suits the destination and the parcel. With Japan Post your package is handed over to the local postal carrier in your country for final delivery.

Parcels are shipped DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid): import VAT and any customs duties are collected by customs or the carrier on delivery, in accordance with the rules of the destination country.
