Description from the seller

Silver ducat 1795 – Zeeland – Middelburg

Northern Netherlands (Netherlands) – Batavian Republic, 1795–1806

Silver ducat 1795, struck in Middelburg for the province of Zeeland.

Mintmasters: Petronella Slob & Johan Lodewijk Molter
Mintmark: castle

Extremely rare die variant

The distinguishing feature of this specimen is the absence of the dot after CRESCUNT.

This issue occurs only very sporadically and forms an extremely rare die variant of the Zeeland silver ducat of 1795.

The variant thus deviates from the regular issue and is designated as a variant for the respective types.

References: Delmonte 976 var. | Verkade 87.1 var. | cf. Schulman 61d | HNPM 96 var. | CNM 2.49.50 var. | L. Schulman 63a (R2)

Rarity: RRR – extremely rare

Locally there is a small weakness of the strike.

A numismatically important Zeeland die variant from the historical year 1795, in which the absence of the dot after CRESCUNT forms the essential distinguishing feature.

An extremely rare variant that occurs only sporadically, for the specialized collector of Zeeland coins, silver ducats, and die variants.
