Olympus PEN EE-2, a good-condition half-frame 18x24mm point-and-shoot designed by Yoshihisa Maitani, tested and working.
Description from the seller
OLYMPUS PEN EE-2, tested and working.
Hello from Japan!
We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world.
The Olympus PEN EE-2 is a half-frame (18x24mm) point-and-shoot introduced in 1968 as part of the Maitani-designed PEN series, and remained in production until 1977. It pairs a sharp fixed D.Zuiko 28mm f/3.5 lens with a battery-free selenium-cell automatic exposure system and a simple two-speed program shutter, adding a hot shoe over the earlier PEN EE. A red warning flag rises in the viewfinder and locks the shutter in low light, guarding against underexposed frames. Its compact size, twice-the-frames-per-roll economy and reliable meterless operation make it a durable favourite among film shooters and collectors today.
Important — please read carefully:
The meter reads bright in strong light. Please review the photos and consider this before bidding.
Condition: Used — Good
Pre-owned, heavy signs of use, or minor optical flaws
Serial Number
Please check the photo.
Appearance
Scuffs and scratches from normal use. Please check the photos for details.
Optical Condition
Finder: Cleaned internally — clear
Lens / Sensor: Clear — no haze or fungus.
Functional
The shutter and film transport work. The selenium meter responds, but reads about +1.3 EV at EV12 and +2.2 EV at EV15 — see Known Issues. No battery is required.
The light seals have been replaced and the viewfinder cleaned internally.
Measured Performance
We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured:
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 1.3 OVER / EV15: 2.2 OVER
Some of these deviations exceed what negative film can absorb — please read the Known Issues section and allow for them when shooting.
Servicing
This camera was serviced by us before listing:
- Light seals (foam) replaced
- Viewfinder cleaned internally
Known Issues
1. The selenium meter reads about 2 stops bright in strong light (about +2.2 EV at EV15); expect overexposure in bright conditions unless you compensate with the film-speed setting.
Bundled Items
Only what you can see in the pictures will be included in the package.
