Set of 3 Asian Porcelain Cups/Saucers – China & Japan – 18th century

Beautiful collection comprising three porcelain cups/saucers from the Far East dating to the eighteenth century, illustrating the variety of export patterns of the period.

Chinese Imari Bowl / Imari Chinese (Ø 14.2 cm) – Kangxi / Yongzheng era (ca. 1720–1730):

Hand-painted decoration in underglaze blue and iron red enhanced with gold, depicting flower rafts and aquatic foliage in a rotating movement, centered by a floral rosette.

Japanese Kraak Saucer / Blue & White (Ø 13.7 cm) – Edo period (ca. 1700–1740):

Molded porcelain with a polylobed, relief-moulded edge (Kraak style). Under-glaze blue decoration showing a scholar’s rock with lotus flowers at the center, surrounded by floral registers. Mark with the Artemisia leaf (auspicious mark) under the base.

Chinese Imari Chinese Bowl (Ø 12.3 cm) – Qianlong era (ca. 1740–1760):

Under-glaze blue and iron-red decoration depicting a traditional pavilion/pagoda near a rock and a weeping willow, at the edge of a river.

Pagoda Bowl (12.3 cm): Good overall condition, a hairline crack visible at the rim.
