Sea Snail Sea shell - S-549 SYRINX ARUANUS

A beautiful, very large shell of Syrinx aruanus, commonly called the trumpet or hidden trumpet, is an exceptionally remarkable species of sea snail. It is a mollusk, a marine snail in the family Turbinellidae, and a species of the genus Syrinx. The shell is ordinarily light brown in color, but in life it is covered by a thick brown or gray periostracum. The shell color may fade to creamy yellow. The entire shell has a spindle shape. The spire of the shell is tall. The ribs usually have a strong keel, which may be used by the knobs. The shell has a long siphonal canal. The columella has no folds, which are present in other genera in the same family. I highly recommend it to collectors and interior decorators.
