LOCK coffeetable is designed from the qualities, possibilities and properties of the material: bamboo.
The frame is handcrafted from pressed layers of flexible bamboo.
The form arises from the natural bending of the bamboo. The bamboo layers bend into each other and intertwine, keeping each other in place.
This "layercake" accentuates the curves, the flowing lines and the shape of the table. The end result is a mix of nature and mathematics, a strong dynamic form that looks different from various viewpoints. A contemporary coffee table design and a tribute to Mid-century design.
The bamboo is heated and caramelized, giving it a beautiful caramel color.
Bamboo:
A strong, very durable, flexible, beautiful and renewable material. Bamboo grows without fertilizer. The bamboo tree is mature enough to be felled after three years. The trees are processed into the world's most environmentally friendly wood.
