Offered is the Miró-dedicated edition of Derrière le Miroir, No. 29–30, May–June 1950, published by Maeght Éditeur, Paris, on the occasion of the Miró exhibition at Galerie Maeght.

A significant early Miró edition of the legendary art magazine Derrière le Miroir with two double-sided original color lithographs by Joan Miró.

The lithographs already show Miró’s unmistakable visual language of bright primary colors, biomorphic figures, zodiac signs, flowing lines, and freely set abstract forms.

The two original lithographs each extend over a double page and, when opened, reach a format of approximately 38 × 56 cm. The central fold is thus part of the original publication form and not a later damage. Fach- and trade sources confirm for this edition two double-sided original lithographs.

What is particularly interesting is the contemporary reference to Tristan Tzara’s Parler seul, which Miró illustrated with numerous original lithographs. The edition note pictured in the magazine documents the production of these lithographs at Mourlot Frères in the years 1948–1950.

Condition:
For a artist’s publication over 75 years old, overall good, collectible condition. Signs of age and use as well as slight paper aging are present. The vibrant colors of the lithographs are very well preserved. Central folds in line with the original publication form.
