Description from the seller
Artemide Onidia: The Luminous Sculpture by Santiago Calatrava
Designed in 1992 by the world-renowned architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava for Artemide, the Onidia table lamp is an extraordinary synthesis between structural engineering, avant-garde design and kinetic art.
Today out of production, it represents one of the rarest and most fascinating pieces of the post-modern landscape of the 1990s.
The supporting structure is made of matte black expanded polyurethane, a technical material that absorbs external light, emphasizing the geometric purity and the lamp's graphic profile.
The Base: A three-point geometric base (in the shape of an asymmetric "V") locks the lamp to the plane with perfect engineering balance, giving the impression that the entire structure floats in space.
The Head and the Red Detail: The spherical spotlight houses an orientable opal acrylic diffuser. From this "head" emerges the most iconic element: a thin red lever that functions as a directional antenna.
This bright detail creates a perfect chromatic contrast with the deep black of the body, recalling the minimalist and Space Age style.
In excellent condition
