Casket (2) - Jewelry box - Gilt brass

Pair of antique French jewelry chests, made of brass and glass.

The first and oldest measures 5.5 cm tall, 8.5 cm wide, and 6 cm high, and weighs 125 g. The structure is in gilded brass and worked in repoussé with a style typical of 19th-century French boudoir caskets. The sides feature bucolic or mythological scenes with playful putti, set in classical landscapes. The lid is made of thick, faceted glass and has a small chip that you can notice in the photos, while the interior is lined with padded silk in capitonné technique and is slightly worn from the passing years.

The second measures 6 x 6 cm and is 7 cm tall, weighing 73 g. In the early 20th century it is characterized by transparent glass panels, mounted inside a refined gilded brass structure finely worked with ornamental dentil motifs along the edges. It rests on four metal-decorated feet and features the original front hinge and clasp from the period. The interior preserves the base with its original fabric lining.

Despite the signs of wear that attest to the passage of time, these objects remain a splendid testimony of the past and at the same time precious antique items of great decorative value, distinctive and collectible. In original antique patina.
