Title: Rare Late Medieval / Renaissance dagger (Swiss Basel dagger type) dating from circa 1400–1600.
It was purchased privately.
Description: For sale is an Authentic, Historical dagger in Basel style. The piece shows the absolutely typical crescent-shaped guard as well as the characteristic pommel.
Condition & Important Note: The piece has been cleaned and conserved.
Please note:
The tang (the grip) has become extremely thin over the centuries (material loss down to a few millimeters) and the pommel is highly fragile. The object is explicitly sold as a highly delicate archaeological collectible item and must be handled with extreme care.
Provenance: I bought it in 2015 from an old gentleman. It sat in his display case, from a private household.
