Description from the seller

Pair of Brutalist Turned Wood and Straw Chairs – Charles Dudouyt Style, France (c. 1940)

Splendid pair of rustic-modernist chairs from the mid-20th century (circa 1940-1950), perfectly aligned with the French Brutalist movement. Their natural light hardwood turned structure is distinguished by geometric ringed columns and spherical finials characteristic of Charles Dudouyt's style.

The seat features a traditional natural cane weaving in a very dense checkerboard pattern. With their architectural lines and timeless look, these chairs will fit just as well in a chic country interior as in a modern, minimalist space.

Origin: France

Era: c. 1940 - 1950

Materials: Solid wood (beech or oak) and natural rye straw

Dimensions: Height 87 cm | Width 40 cm | Depth 40 cm

Condition: Very good overall. The wooden structures are perfectly stable and robust. The original caning is healthy and well tensioned. There are light signs of use and discreet surface scratches that attest to their authenticity and add to their patina (see photos).
