A splendid antique glass/crystal coupe on a foot (tazza / fruit bowl), produced by the prestigious Belgian glass factory Val Saint Lambert. This sought-after piece is realized in the iconic model 'Hambourg', clearly documented in the famous Val-Saint-Lambert catalog of 1913 (under the section Articles moulés / geperst glas).

The design, created at the time under the overall artistic direction of Léon Ledru, is a beautiful early example of the geometric language that would later define Art Deco. In later decades this successful line was developed further by designers Charles Graffart and René Delvenne.

The tazza, of the largest and tallest version, is richly decorated on the outside with a refined diamond pattern (pointe de diamant), which magnificently refracts the light. The rim of the bowl is elegantly finished with a continuous bead edge (bordure à perles). The monumental, tapering foot combines clean vertical facets with a repetition of the diamond motif at the base, creating a very stable and harmonious composition.

Val-Saint-Lambert pieces from this specific catalog period belong to the absolute classics of early 20th-century Belgian glassware and are highly sought after by international collectors.

The coupe is in strikingly beautiful, authentic condition with minimal signs of aging. The glass is clear and has retained its original luster. As inherent to the production technique (pressed glass) from this early period, there are in the foot and bowl a few tiny air bubbles and the characteristic, hairline-thin press seams visible from the manufacturing process; these are explicitly not cracks or damage.
