Description from the seller
Wilhelm Wagenfeld – Lindner Leuchten – Set of 2 Bauhaus wall lamps – model 6110 – the sixties
Special set of 2 vintage German Bauhaus wall/mirror lamps, model 6110, manufactured by Lindner Leuchten and designed/attributed to the well-known German designer Wilhelm Wagenfeld (1900–1990).
Wagenfeld is among the leading designers from the Bauhaus tradition. His designs are characterized by functional simplicity, high-quality materials, and a clear formal language in which decoration is subordinate to function.
These fixtures are a beautiful example of that. The sharply formed base is made of white glazed porcelain, combined with a rounded, almost egg-shaped shade of milky white opal glass. The opal glass provides, when in use, pleasant, soft, and even light diffusion.
This type of functional lighting was widely used in the 1960s as wall and mirror lighting, among other places in bathrooms. As a matched pair, the lamps look particularly elegant on either side of a mirror. Thanks to their minimalist design, they now fit excellently within Bauhaus, Mid-Century Modern, or Scandinavian interiors.
Both units have the number 6110 on the back in the porcelain. The dimensions and size, H 15 × W 8 × D 9 cm, also correspond to documented Wagenfeld/Lindner wall lamps from the 1960s.
