Description from the seller
This is a Kokeshi doll created by a renowned Japanese artist during the Showa era. The piece, titled "Kosode," comes with its original box and the artist's seal is stamped on the bottom of the wooden base. It is a collectible item made from traditional Japanese handcrafted wood.
The Kokeshi doll is entirely carved from solid wood, preserving the natural and clear grain of the wood. The doll is divided into three sections: head, body, and wooden base. The head is connected by a thin wooden rod, allowing it to rotate freely, a clever and dynamic design. The face is painted using traditional hand-painting techniques, with simple and gentle lines. The eyes are gently closed, smiling, conveying a serene and gentle expression. The short, black hair is painted with smooth, delicate lines, and a touch of vermilion on the lips adds to its antique charm. The body is inspired by the traditional Japanese kimono, "Kosode," with hand-painted colorful floral patterns in elegant red, green, and white. Red lacquer accents the inside of the garment, showcasing meticulous attention to detail and seamlessly integrating the gentle beauty of the kimono into the wooden doll.
Dimensions: Overall height approximately 32 cm, head diameter approximately 6 cm. Condition Description: This is a vintage Japanese artifact. Having survived the passage of time, the surface bears the natural marks of age, a normal phenomenon for antique items. The wooden structure is sturdy, without cracks or damage. The hand-painted designs are well-preserved, with no large areas of paint peeling or repairs. The original cardboard box is included.
