This rare and iconic Thonet daybed was designed before 1904 and is beautifully documented on page 74 of the official Thonet catalog from 1904. It is a masterpiece of Viennese design, characterized by a flowing scrollwork frame of dark-brown stained beechwood, original handwoven rattan wicker, and a handy adjustable backrest. The piece carries an honest, distinctive patina that testifies to a rich history, but is structurally completely intact and stable. An absolute showstopper for a refined Art Nouveau interior or a stylish reading corner.
