AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare and splendid Klein-Mentor monocular SLR camera (6.5 x 9 cm) made in Dresden by Goltz & Breutmann around 1914. Historic export version, equipped with a legendary Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar lens from 1909.

It is an export model, due to the shutter plate in English that reads "Shutter - Speeds", designed to be the compact and portable version of the large studio cameras of the era.

Serial number on the body: 19992

Lens: Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 13.5 cm (135 mm) f/6.3 with serial number 122767. Glass elements clear, with no fungus or perceptible scratches.

Mechanism: functional, however, as I show in the image, on the right side the piece where the shutter mechanism sits has come loose. I show both sides for reference.

The shutter curtain needs adjustment, as it does not close fully after firing. There are two images with it fully closed and another not fully closed.

Aesthetically it shows the patina of time and some natural wear, but it remains in its original state.

As this is a historical item over a century old, it is sold as a collectible/display item, with no guarantee of precise timing of shutter speeds.
