Description from the seller

A rare antique Russian icon with an unusual depiction of archangels and saints, probably a patronage icon. The icon is executed in fine tempera colors. It was painted before 1800; this is supported by both the stylistic elements, the strictly Byzantine figures and faces (baroque overtones are not to be overlooked here), and the design of the board on which the icon was painted. The board is clearly handmade; in any case, the back side is finely hand-carved. Partly restored.

Due to the absence of name inscriptions for the depicted persons and archangels.
In the first row:
In the center-left the Saint Archangel Gabriel, on the right the Saint Archangel Michael
Left outer the Holy Grand Prince Vladimir, the apostle-like enlightened of the Russian land, right outer the Holy Grand Duchess Olga
In the second row:
2 female saints
Above it the Holy Mandylion, the image of Jesus not created by human hands...
