In 1948, the Danish papercraft artist Edel Erstad and her husband, a professional painter, started a business. They design and produce beautiful papercuts. Erstad & Stubbe-Teglbjærg (EST) design objects that are handmade, in homage to modern aesthetics and this beautiful Danish tradition.
Erstad & Stubbe-Teglbjærg (EST) is a relatively small but very characterful Danish design and craft studio, best known for handmade wooden sculptures and figures from the second half of the 20th century. The brand today is primarily valued by collectors of Danish Modern, alongside icons like Kay Bojesen and Hans Bølling, but with a clearly distinct, expressive handwriting.
EST stands for Erstad & Stubbe-Teglbjærg, a partnership between Danish designers/craftsmen active from around the 1960s–1970s. Production took place entirely in Denmark, in small series and often partly finished by hand.
