Description from the seller
- Origin: Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Tribe name: SAKA
- Material: Wood - Wrought iron - Copper - iron
- Dimensions (mm): 498x197x45
- Weight (grams): 544
- Shipping method: Colissimo + Insurance
===Seller's note=== Whether arrowheads, spear tips, axes and adzes, all these forged iron objects were protected by animal fat by the ethnic groups to whom these objects belonged, to protect them from oxidation.
All my iron-containing objects have been 'cleaned' by me, by electrolysis. The procedure does not affect the metal in any way, while restoring its original appearance as it was at the time of creation.
== It is important to note that the disparities that can be seen on the cleaned object's surface, – crevices, sparkles... – come from several factors:
- Oxidation over time that attacked the metal in places.
- The metal’s melting point not being reached uniformly during casting – sparkle effect (the smiths worked on the ground aided by manual bellows made of wood and animal skin)
- Impurities due to the rock containing the metal, insufficiently filtered and cleaned before casting.
This presentation of the object guarantees its authenticity and age. Unlike metal from industrial and modern foundries.
IMPORTANT FOR U.S. BIDDERS
- Due to the significant restrictions imposed by U.S. Customs on imports (high customs fees for both the sender and the recipient, as well as extensive administrative paperwork), I regret to inform potential bidders from the United States that I will no longer be able to ship items purchased at auction to them.
Thank you to our American friends for refraining from bidding on my items until relations between our governments return to normal.
