The piece is made in the vicinity of the Abbey of Maredsoud in Belgium.
A monastery that lies in the Belgian province of Namur.
The Abbey of Maredsous is the custodian of the Benedictine tradition, but is above all a cultural hub: since 1882 it has housed a center for crafts and publishing.
The piece is made of repoussé copper and is framed with a wooden surround to hang the piece.
Such copper plates were produced within the tradition of the craft schools of Maredsous Métiers d'Art.
Dimensions are: Back side measured with the frame included: about 27 by 26.5 cm.
The piece is still in very good condition, only some minimal wear due to age.
