Susse Frères - Maximilien Fiot - Sculpture, L'Albatros sur les flots - 37 cm - Bronze - 1920

Remarkable and imposing Art Deco bronze sculpture depicting an albatross with sculpted plumage and outstretched wings, skimming the crest of a moving wave.
This major work by the animal sculptor Maximilien FIOT (1886-1938) perfectly illustrates his modern style, focused on the nervous line and the capture of movement.
Prestige edition: Cast by the Susse Frères Paris foundry house. The piece bears the round founder’s mark “Susse Frères Éditeurs Paris,” the BRONZE mark on the edge in intaglio, as well as the artist M. Fiot’s incised signature on the terrace.
Technique: Hollow-cast bronze of the period with a reverse showing the assembling and traditional casting work of the Susse house.
Dimensions: Remarkable wingspan of 63 cm, with a height of 37 cm and a depth of 26 cm. Weight: 12 kg.
Condition: Superb conservation. Original nuanced brown patina intact, without cracks, chips, or restoration.
