Sculpture, Druiven - 25 cm - rose quartz - 1950

A beautiful, large decorative cluster of grapes, handcrafted from natural gemstones in the mid-20th century (Mid-Century Modern). The individual grapes are carefully cut and polished from light-pink rose quartz with lovely natural banding and luster. The piece features three finely stylized leaves, hand-carved from different shades of green/brown jade. The grapes are individually mounted on a central stem that is traditionally wrapped with silk thread. This type of luxury hardstone carving was widely produced in Asia in the 1950s and 1960s and was a highly cherished interior and collectible object worldwide. A beautiful, timeless decorative piece that gracefully catches the light.
