Description from the seller

Historic Zeiss Ikon Contax S 35mm SLR camera body (Dresden, Germany, c. 1949) – an iconic milestone in camera history as one of the world's first 35mm SLR cameras featuring a built-in eye-level pentaprism and the universal M42 screw mount.

Specifications:
- Manufacturer: Zeiss Ikon AG, Dresden
- Model: Contax S (early version)
- Serial number on bottom rim: 73450
- Internal chamber stamp: 20069
- Lens mount: M42 screw mount

Condition / For Parts or Restoration:
- Shutter: The cloth focal-plane shutter is intact without visible pinholes. Most shutter speeds fire, but the shutter hangs / sticks on the "B" (Bulb) setting and slow speeds may require servicing (dry lubricants).
- Viewfinder / Optics: The reflex mirror shows visible age-related desilvering. The pentaprism / focusing screen displays classic desilvering / separation marks (dark patch in the field of view), typical for early 1949 Contax S prisms.
- Cosmetics: The body is in very well-preserved cosmetic condition with only minor wear on the chrome and intact original leatherette (no major dings or dents, see detailed high-resolution photos).

Offered explicitly as a rare collector's display piece, restoration base, or for spare parts.
