Description from the seller
Elegant antique dark wood captain’s chair in the English Victorian style
Elegant old dark wood captain’s chair, stylistically linked to the English taste of the 19th century, particularly the Victorian period. The structure features a characteristic round, open back with soft, enveloping lines, embellished at the bottom by a central carved element with ornamental motifs. The arms follow a sinuous course and are completed by upholstered armrests, covered in the same yellow fabric as the seat. The seat itself, wide and shaped, has a floral and botanical tone-on-tone upholstery, finished along the edge by a row of decorative studs. The carved front legs display an articulated work with bulging and molded elements, while the rear legs continue with a more linear silhouette from the backrest structure. The wood presents a warm brown finish, with some signs and wear traces visible consistent with the age and use of the piece. An elegant and decorative chair, ideal as a capotavola in a classic dining room or as a single seat for studies, entrances, and traditional-style spaces.
