Original historical map of the Austrian Empire (the “Austrian Empire”) from the 19th century.

The map labeled in English shows the extensive territory of the then-Habsburg Monarchy with Austria, Bohemia, Moravia, Hungary, Transylvania, Galicia, Tyrol, parts of Northern Italy, and the southeastern regions of the Empire as well as the neighboring areas of Europe.

Particularly interesting is the separate detailed map “Environs of Vienna” in the lower right area, which presents Vienna and its surroundings at an enlarged scale.

The individual territories are subtly highlighted from one another with contemporaneous hand coloring. Numerous towns, villages, rivers, transport routes, and historical borders are depicted in detail. The presentation is surrounded by an elaborate, multi-ornamental border.

A decorative and at the same time historically interesting piece on the political geography of Central Europe in the 19th century – especially appealing for collectors of historical maps, Austriaca, and Habsburgica.

Dimensions: approx. 42 cm wide; the exact height can be seen from the included measurement photos.

Condition: good, authentic age-appropriate condition. The paper shows the typical discolorations, light stains, and signs of wear for its age. There are slight irregularities or age marks along the outer edges. The actual map depiction is overall very well preserved, the lines and labels are clearly readable, and the historical coloring remains quite visible.
