Antique Minton Porcelain Tea Set – Green & White Scenic Floral Pattern – c.1856–1857
Beautiful antique Minton porcelain tea set in a green and white scenic floral pattern.
According to the Encyclopedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks, the impressed cyphers to the base date the pieces to approximately 1856–1857.
The set comprises:
6 tea cups – 8.5 x 6 cm
6 saucers – 14 cm
6 side plates – 13.8 cm
1 milk jug – 15 x 11 cm at the widest point
1 lidded sugar bowl – 15 x 15 cm at the widest point
1 large square serving plate – 25.5 x 23 cm
Condition is good antique condition overall for a set of this age.
There is some rubbing to the gilt on the rims consistent with age and use.
The milk jug has an old stable crack near the handle. The large serving plate has a manufacturing fault to the back rim, appearing as a glazed-over chip from production.
Light utensil scratches are present to the saucers and plates.
