Object: ancient iron sword

Maximum width: approx. 61 mm
Grip without pommel: approx. 95 mm

A rare and impressive example of an Iron Age weapon from the northern Black Sea region, whose characteristic grip and knob form suggests assignment to the Sindo-Maeotic cultural sphere.
Due to its length of just under 70 cm, it is not a small dagger or akinetos, but a fully-fledged iron sword.
Acquired in 1996 from a private collection in Belgium, which had been built up in the 1960s.
