Description from the seller

Exceptional large oval enameled cast iron casserole Le Creuset – Cousances, model No. 32, in the famous Rougé Volcanique color. A piece particularly imposing in its dimensions and weight, which perfectly illustrates the craftsmanship of the old French Cousances productions, historic house now part of Le Creuset.

The casserole features a magnificent glossy red exterior enamel and a cream interior enamel that is particularly well preserved. The lid is equipped with its original black knob bearing the COUSANCES mark. The Cousances marks are also present under the lid and under the casserole.

Height with lid: 18 cm
Weight: approximately 8 kg

Condition
Very good condition, exceptional considering age and use.
The cream interior enamel is particularly beautiful and uniform. No chips observed, neither inside nor outside.

Some very slight surface scratches are visible under the casserole, related to its use and movement on cooking surfaces. They do not alter its remarkable overall condition.

A grand piece of French culinary heritage
With its 41 cm length and 8 kg, this casserole is a true centerpiece: generous, family-oriented and especially suitable for large preparations, stews, braises, meats, poultry or shared dishes.
Enameled cast iron has an excellent capacity to accumulate and gradually release heat, allowing gentle and steady cooking. The enamel protects the iron, makes maintenance easier and also allows cooking and serving directly at the table.

Le Creuset, founded in 1925 in Fresnoy-le-Grand, in the Aisne, has over time become one of the world's major references in enameled cast iron. The company celebrated its centenary in 2025.

The Cousances brand, known for its old cast iron productions, joined Le Creuset’s history after being acquired by the house in the 1950s.

More than a simple kitchen utensil, this imposing casserole is a true object of transmission. Designed to last, it can accompany several generations, preserve family recipes and become a witness to shared meals and exceptional culinary memories.
