A superb Venetian wall or dressing-table mirror set in Murano glass, made in Italy in the mid-20th century, in Murano around 1950–1960.

Mirror description:

This particularly decorative model, 22.5 cm high, features a remarkable artistic glass border made of numerous elements shaped and hand-assembled. The frame combines transparent and slightly amber glass with delicate pale blue glass flowers, arranged symmetrically in the upper and lower parts. Small transparent floral rosettes complete the composition.

The outer border is adorned with a succession of small, rounded glass elements that are highly worked, while the interior décor presents ridged, twisted, and relief elements, characteristic of the Venetian decorative tradition. The overall effect creates beautiful light play and gives the mirror a precious, sculptural appearance.

The mirror rests on a wooden back support and has a mounting system on the back. The artisanal craftsmanship, the richness of the floral decoration, and the use of numerous individually shaped glass elements are characteristic of Murano glass Venetian mirrors.

The large turquoise-blue flowers are not merely decorative: they were made separately and then applied to the frame. Their surface has a very distinctive texture, with a grid-like/irregular effect that adds a lot of depth.
The amber-toned elements around the mirror also give the impression of slightly gold glass, very typical of certain Venetian mirrors from that era.
