Christofle is a French silversmithing and tableware company, founded in Paris in 1830 by Charles Christofle.
The company is known for introducing electroplating with gold and silver in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the Chalhoub family’s luxury group.
The Maison Christofle uses entirely handmade manufacture following traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning-repoussé, planishing, chasing, engraving, which are upheld by its Master Silversmiths and Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, immortalize the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. It is this irreplaceable human know-how, sustained by highly skilled artisans transmitting from master to apprentice, that constitutes Christofle’s living heritage.
