Elegant and imposing salver (footed tray) in solid 925 sterling silver, expertly crafted in London in 1835 by the celebrated silversmith William Bateman I (1801 - 1970), one of the most prestigious names in nineteenth-century British silverware. The piece stands out for its rich and elaborate shaped and chased pierce-work border, decorated with shell motifs, acanthus scrolls, and rocaille typical of the Neo-Rococo style.
