Elegant vintage French marquetry serving tray, beautifully crafted from a selection of contrasting wood veneers.
The centre features an elaborate floral bouquet in marquetry, composed of individually cut veneers in different natural tones, surrounded by a striking dark figured-wood reserve and fine decorative stringing. The warm outer veneer provides an attractive contrast to the intricate central decoration.
The tray has an elegant faceted rectangular form, finished with a pierced brass gallery around the edge and two decorative brass carrying handles. The underside is also fully veneered, demonstrating the quality of the construction.
Dating approximately to the early 20th century, circa 1900–1930, with design influences from the French Louis XV revival/Belle Époque tradition.
In good vintage condition with attractive age-related patina and normal traces of use, particularly to the brass elements, consistent with its age.
