Pair of antique oak stools / benches – 18th century – rustic folk furniture
Beautiful and highly characterful pair of antique oak stools / small benches, dating from the 18th century.
Both pieces are made of solid oak and feature a simple, robust construction typical of early European rural and vernacular furniture. The thick rectangular seats are supported by four splayed legs, reinforced by wooden stretchers.
Particularly attractive are the clearly visible traditional joints, with the squared ends of the legs passing through the seats. The irregularities in the wood, extensive natural wear and deeply developed patina give both stools a particularly authentic and decorative appearance.
