A complete 12-piece set of solid silver cake forks in Art Deco style by Fa. D. van der Meulen & Zoon, Joure (Netherlands), 1st-grade silver (.934), 172 g total, ca. 1932–1933, supplied in a matching case in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Netherlands – Fa. D. van der Meulen & Zoon (Joure) – 12-piece Art Deco dessert forks set – 1st quality silver (.934) – 172 g – ca. 1932
A complete and pristine 12-piece set of solid silver dessert forks in a pronounced Art Deco design, manufactured by the renowned Frisian silver workshop Fa. D. van der Meulen & Zoon in Joure.
The forks are characterized by a high-quality two-tone finish: the strictly stylized floral motif is glossy-engraved against a finely matte (satinized) background, which provides a beautiful depth contrast with the high-gloss polished tines. Where serving and small silver from Van der Meulen in the interwar period was almost standardly forged in 2nd quality (.833), this luxury set is executed in the historic Dutch 1st quality silver (.934).
Comes in a matching presentation case.
