AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Description
Dimensions: 10x7x8 cm
The small bust is characteristic of the bronze production attributed to the Venetian foundry of the sculptor Niccolò Roccatagliata, originally from Genoa and a pupil of Agostino Groppo, who moved to Venice at the end of the 16th century where he launched a successful bronze production in collaboration with Groppo's son Cesare, with whom he collaborated, and later his son Sebastiano also contributed in the final stage.
Our small bronze belongs to the artist's second production, probably after the two bronze figures depicting Saint George and Saint Stephen commissioned by the Benedictine monks of the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice in 1594.
