Beautiful original map of the Pisa territory (Il Pisano), drawn from the Atlas of Antonio Zatta, Venice 1793.
Sheet size about 47.5 × 35.5 cm.
The map, in contemporary coloring, depicts in great detail the Tuscan area centered on Pisa (in red), with Livorno, the course of the Arno, Lake Bientina/Sesto, Pontedera, Volterra, the Tyrrhenian coast up to Piombino, the main rivers, hills, inhabited centers, towers and minor localities. Decorative cartouche in the bottom left with title in red, date and publisher, enriched with plant motifs. Scale in Italian miles at the bottom.
A map of notable historical-geographical interest for Tuscany at the end of the eighteenth century, the work of one of the greatest Venetian cartographers of the era.
A rare exemplar in this edition and in good condition, with the typical signs of time and of the atlas sheet.
