Candleholder - Bronze - Wedding candlestick

Authentic antique Chinese altar candlestick from the late Qing Dynasty, made around the period 1880–1920. This ceremonial candlestick, also known as a pricket candlestick, is executed in a traditional design with an openwork shaft forming the stylized Shuangxi character, the well-known symbol for Double Happiness. This motif makes the object recognizable as a wedding candlestick, originally placed in pairs on an altar to summon prosperity and harmony over the marriage. The item is handcrafted using the sand-casting method and consists of a heavy alloy of solid brass and bronze. A continuously forged iron pin forms the central axis that firmly connects the foot, the drip pans, and the upper candle cup. The authenticity of this artifact is beautifully reflected by the presence of original casting traces on the inside of the hollow foot and the deep, layered patina that has naturally developed over decades. Moreover, the historical residues of candle wax and soot in the cup testify to a rich ceremonial history. With a substantial height of 34.5 centimeters, a width of 14 centimeters, a depth of 9.5 centimeters and a robust weight of 885 grams, this is a substantial and collectible piece of Asian antique that is in excellent, untouched condition.
