Column - Alabastro Venato di Volterra - 1850-1900

Elegant pedestal column, a fine handcrafted piece entirely realized in Volterra-veined gypsum alabaster. Scenographic, beautiful in its form and appearance, the stone stands out for its extraordinary material quality, characterized by a suggestive waxy translucency base and dense natural gray-anthracite inclusions, which create a rich and deep clouded effect with a sinuous flow. Fully turned and shaped, it features the octagonal upper plane with a beveled, chamfered profile. The central cylindrical shaft tapers, with three protruding rings (collars) carved from the solid. Beautiful stepped octagonal base, which geometrically echoes the design of the summit, guaranteeing formal and static stability. Typical production from the late 19th century / early 20th century, it preserves the splendid original luster obtained through meticulous hand polishing of the natural stone. A piece of furniture of timeless classicity, expression of that Tuscan high craftsmanship celebrated throughout Europe between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Thanks to the superb contrast between the geometric rigor of its lines and the fluid naturalness of the veining, this column represents the ideal solution to enhance bronzes, marbles, or vases of high antiquity, fitting with innate elegance into both historic environments and sophisticated contemporary interiors. Divisible into 8 parts and assembled by a metal core. It will be shipped with careful protection and insured. The column is 96 cm tall, the top capital (supporting plane) 22 cm, and the lower octagonal capital (Base) 22 cm. Code 307 NB.
