Antique Traditional Yemeni Jambiya Dagger – mid 20th Century (1920~1970)

Fascinating traditional Jambiya (or Janbiya) dagger, originating from Yemen. This specimen represents a classic symbol of social status and cultural identity of the tribal populations of the Arabian Peninsula.
The blade is forged by hand from iron/steel, characterized by the typical curved double-edged profile and a pronounced central rounded rib (ridge), a distinctive feature of vintage craftsmanship (not mass-produced). The blade fits firmly into the hilt via a decorated metal ring.
It bears a natural patina of time and light oxidation stains that attest to its authenticity and age.
The grip (hilt) is made of horn (or a similar organic material) shaped in a stylized "H" form, embellished on the front side with metal studs and decorative rosettes. The back of the grip is smooth.
The scabbard features a wooden structure covered in thick brown leather, entirely hand-stitched and finished. The front side is richly adorned with plates and large circular medallions in silverwork/silver-plated metal with geometric patterns and granulation, completed by a row of bell pendants. The back in leather is smooth and shows conspicuous and captivating wear from rubbing, a sign that the item was worn for a long time by the original owner.
It is presented in good overall condition, fully consistent with its age and tribal use. It has not undergone any invasive modern restorations, preserving its intact original historical patina. Weight 282g.
