Glass vase Avena designed by Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala in Finland, dating to 1950–1960, with dimensions 17 cm high, 17 cm wide and 8 cm in diameter, and weighing 1 g, in good condition with minor age-related wear and a small edge defect.

Today I have the pleasure of presenting to you on this auction:
Glass vase Avena, designed in the 1960s by the eminent Finnish architect and designer Tapio Wirkkala for the iconic Iittala manufactory.
It is an icon of Scandinavian design in the Mid-Century Modern (MCM) style.
The design is characterized by an organic, deep texture of artistic glass reminiscent of cracked ice or tree bark.
The transparent, substantial form elegantly disperses and refracts light.
The vase bears the signature of Tapio Wirkkala.
Good condition.
Attention!!! the vase has a minor imperfection in the form of damage to the rim.
