Bang & Olufsen - Beocord 5000 - Type 4921 Cassette recorder-player

A high-quality cassette deck perfectly tuned to the Beomaster 5000 as part of the Beosystem 5000. When both devices were used together, the cassette deck could be operated completely by remote control.

The Beocord 5000 was technically and in its operation and control systems extremely advanced. For ambitious home-studio musicians, it offered outstanding sound quality and precise workmanship. The patented HX PRO recording system from Bang & Olufsen, the Dolby B- and Dolby C noise reduction, and a six-head Canon combination head with a 1.8 mm gap contributed to a recording and playback performance that excited even the most demanding audio technicians.

For beginners and technically less experienced music lovers, the Beocord 5000 offered a very straightforward way to create high-quality recordings and then enjoy them at leisure.

The Beocord’s control system offered every convenience. There was a START/GO function that rewound the tape to its beginning and played it without further instructions. And an automatic ADVANCE function (tape search) that located the start of each desired title from either end of the tape.

The choice between ferric, chromium dioxide, and metal tapes was fully automatic, and setting the correct recording level was quick and easy using the input controls and LED level indicators. One could switch in an instant between the different tape transport modes (for example, from playback to fast reverse) without the risk of the tape tangling or the mechanism being damaged.

The cassette compartment and the direct-control controls were housed in a motorized drawer that could be opened and closed by touch. In conjunction with the Beomaster 5000, the Beocord 5000 could of course be programmed to automatically start recording or playback at any desired moment.
