Unisex Art Deco pendant necklace from the 1920s–1940s, in solid 800 silver with a central jet-black onyx tablet flanked by pyrite marcasites, a tapered skyscraper silhouette, 48 mm by 17 mm pendant on a 42 cm twisted rope chain, total weight 12.06 g, in very good condition.
Description from the seller
An authentic masterpiece of early 20th-century German goldsmithing, this dramatic pendant necklace exemplifies the architectural elegance of the Art Deco era. The elongated lavaliere pendant features a tapered trapezoidal and stepped "skyscraper" silhouette forged in solid 800 silver with deep contrast oxidation. Collet-set at the center is an elongated rectangular tablet of jet-black natural onyx flanked by openwork geometric struts. The outer stepped borders, articulated bail, and lower pointed fan terminal are lavishly pavé-set with shimmering pyrite marcasites. Suspended from a substantial, high-quality 42 cm twisted rope chain, the reverse of the pendant terminal is stamped with a crisp 800 silver purity hallmark alongside a silversmith maker's cartouche.
