Elegant and unusual Art Deco glass biscuit box / serving jar, dating approximately to the 1920s–1930s.
The rectangular transparent glass body is decorated with a striking cut/etched starburst motif, giving the piece a beautiful sparkle when it catches the light.
The most distinctive feature is the elaborate geometric Art Deco swing handle, decorated with circular and angular elements typical of the period. The fitted metal lid has a richly textured surface and an attractive raised decorative panel surrounding the central finial.
The combination of clear glass, aged silver-tone metal and strong geometric decoration gives this piece a particularly elegant Art Deco appearance. The natural patina and signs of age to the metal add character and authenticity.
A beautiful decorative and functional piece, suitable as a biscuit box, sweet/candy container, serving jar or decorative table box. It would also make an attractive addition to an Art Deco interior or collection.
