Decorative ornament - Italy

Important decorative element in carved and gilded wood,datable between the late 19th and early 20th century. Rich decoration with volutes, vegetal motif and acanthus leaves, a symmetrical composition and refined antique gilding. The structure has back fixing elements that suggest it could have been conceived also as an ornamental part of furniture, possibly of armchairs or of another textile furnishing element. As an overdoor it lends itself to the insertion of a benevolent inscription, as I reported in one of the photos in the photographic slideshow accompanying the presentation of the object.
