This hand-knotted Afghan Kazak runner features a striking geometric allover design. The bold red inner field is designed with several star-shaped central motifs, angular fretwork, stylized florals, and traditional hook motifs.

A wide cream-colored main border, with regularly spaced rosettes and jagged leaves, frames the inner field. Narrow accompanying borders in dark blue, red, and cream complete the contrasting design. The vivid colors impart a primitive and decorative character to the runner.

The pile is made of sheepskin wool and the woolen warp provide a sturdy, tactile texture. With its especially long and narrow format, the rug is ideally suited for long corridors, hallways, entryways, or narrow living spaces.
